Digital banking in Canada lets you access your account anytime, anywhere. With Stride’s online and mobile banking, you can check balances, pay bills, send e-transfers, and manage your finances with ease, no matter where you are!

An Interac e-Transfer is a convenient and secure way to send or receive money in Canada without needing to exchange cash or write a cheque. This service allows you to transfer funds directly from your bank account to someone else's using just their email address or mobile phone number. With Interac e-Transfer, you can split bills, pay friends or family, or transfer money for purchases—all without sharing sensitive account information. It’s fast, reliable, and widely accepted across Canada, making it a popular choice for everyday transactions.

Direct deposit is a simple and secure way to receive payments directly into your bank account, eliminating the need for cheques or cash. It’s commonly used in Canada for things like paychecks, government benefits, or tax refunds.

Why Use Direct Deposit?

  • Convenience: No need to visit the bank to deposit a cheque.
  • Speed: Funds are available immediately on the deposit date.
  • Security: No risk of lost or stolen cheques.
  • Flexibility: Direct deposits can also help you set up automatic payments for recurring expenses, like utility bills, rent, or subscriptions. Once payments are linked to your account, they’ll be processed automatically, ensuring you never miss a due date.

Direct deposit is especially useful for newcomers to Canada as it simplifies financial management and ensures timely access to your funds. At Stride, we make setting up direct deposit and automatic payments easy and hassle-free.

Buying your first home is an exciting milestone, and we’re here to help make it a reality. Stride Credit Union offers the First Home Savings Account (FHSA), a registered plan designed to help you save for your first home tax-free.

How Does It Work?

  • Save Tax-Free: Contributions are tax-deductible, and when you make a qualifying withdrawal for a home purchase, it’s not taxable.
  • Eligibility: You must be a Canadian resident, 18 years or older, and a first-time home buyer.
  • Generous Limits: Save up to $8,000 annually, with a lifetime contribution limit of $40,000. Unused portions of your annual limit can be carried forward to future years.
  • Flexible Timeframe: Keep the account open for up to 15 years or until the year you turn 71, whichever comes first.

An FHSA is an excellent tool for newcomers to Canada, offering a secure and tax-efficient way to save for your first home while you build your life here. Whether you’re dreaming of a cozy condo or a family home, Stride is here to support you every step of the way.
